From Pulled "Pork" Sandwiches To Jackfruit Carnitas, Orlando Is A Vegan Paradise

November 29, 2017

Known as the City Beautiful, Orlando, Florida offers picturesque resorts, amusement parks, and, best of all, a plentiful array of vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurants. Named as the third best vegan and vegetarian-friendly city in the U.S. on WalletHub, Orlando has a thriving community that cares about conscious eating. Each place I have listed is passionate about the food they are making, and dedicated to creating unique and flavorful vegan dishes.

Here are just a few of my favorites!

Market on South

Serving as a restaurant, bakery and bar, Market on South has it all. They offer an entirely plant-based menu, with produce grown only steps away from their kitchen. They have a wide array of incredible desserts made by Valhalla Bakery, my favorite being their beautifully crafted and decadent donuts.

Dixie Dharma is to thank for the delicious southern style dishes that are served up. The menu is simple, but each dish is filled with robust flavor and freshness.  With favorites like The Orangebird sandwich, a BBQ sloppy joe with coleslaw on top, and the Nopales Tacos, jackfruit carnitas topped with nopales cactus. No meal is complete there without a side of their mac-and-cheese or their cheesy homies. They also house Foxtail coffee, a strong locally sourced coffeehouse, and an array of soft and alcoholic drinks.

Day or night, outside is the best place to sit. With picnic tables surrounded by greenery and vegetables,  and tiki lights strung along to provide a romantic ambiance.

Skyebird Juice Bar and Experimental Kitchen

Nestled in the middle of Audubon Park’s East End Market, Skyebird Juice Bar and Experimental Kitchen provides wholesome and fresh plant-based meals. Their kitchen is trendy with an open layout, so that you can sit right at the bar as you watch your food being prepared.

They offer fresh juices and smoothies, each one served in a beautiful mason jar and labeled with its ingredients. They have a variety of dishes, with options like their Mac and Trees and their Caesar Salad. Even if you’re in a rush, they have grab-and-go style breakfast and lunch meals served in a jar. Their location is bike friendly, and offers seating situated right in the midst of a bountiful garden.

Drunken Monkey

A hip coffeehouse, Drunken Monkey offers a cozy setting to soak up the Orlando community. They have a large selection of vegan wraps, sandwiches, soups and baked goods, not to mention an extensive menu of unique and delicious drinks. Their coffee is fair-trade and is roasted in-house. Look amongst the flyers, and there is always an event posted for vegan holiday events and potluck dinners in the community. Standing as a hub for local art and culture, there is artwork featured on the walls and weekly open mic events. This is the perfect place to have a bomb vegan meal, and feel right at home. Did I mention they have a drive through?

The Sanctum

This trendy cafe is passionate about bringing plant-based, wholesome, and sustainable food to the community. The moment you walk in you feel welcomed. They have a variety of seating, from couches to hightop bar stools to community style tables. Their menu is beautifully crafted, featuring both vegan and non-vegan options. Each plate that comes out is a piece of artwork, and is made with an abundance of love. Their ingredients are nothing but pure and organically sourced. Taking time to read their story, you know that they love what they do and are passionate about bringing good food to their community. Indulge in a yoga class next-door then come in for their avocado toast paired with their French press coffee. The ingredients for a morning of bliss.
