Nitsa Citrine, Creative Director of Sun Potion Transformational Foods, seems to radiate light and glorious feminine energy (I feel bathed in gentle California sun just looking at her Instagram!). Raised by a holistic wellness-loving family, Citrine is inspired by natural and intuitive living–and her wellness/beauty regimen certainly reflects that. Like many sundrenched wellness gurus, Citrine swears by staples like matcha and meditation, but her lovingly curated routine goes a bit deeper. The following are just some of her fascinating favorite goodies and practices.
Citrine’s waking routine is as fresh as morning dew. She begins with a giant class of spring water–then things get interesting. “Most mornings this is followed by a warm potion infused with tonic herbs, some white dragon matcha or chai…with some homemade sprouted nut or seed milk. (I like to make my own nut milks because I try to avoid anything containing any form of preservatives, and prefer the creamy freshness of homemade versus store-bought raw milks!),” she told House of Citrine.
She’s all about divine natural fragrance and uses Golda atmosphere mist. “My friends Keiko and Tsugu offer this amazing woodsy spray made from Japanese Hiba wood which I mist myself (and anyone who happens to be around me) with all day long!” Citrine told CAP Beauty that she also loves aromatherapy, especially before bed: “Love to run my aromatherapy diffuser (with lavender, rose, eucalyptus, peppermint and hiba oils) before falling into dreams…clears the respiratory system and energy from the day!”

Naturally, her enticing skincare routine is, well, natural. Her staples include Shiva Rose Beauty Balm, a rich, melt-into-your-skin balm that soothes, moisturizes, and invigorates, and Poppy and Someday Marfa Moon Mist, a soothing, calming mist infused with Tourmaline Crystal to ward off life’s chaos (I think I need some of that!).

When it comes to makeup, Citrine prefers to keep things as minimal as possible. “I am definitely the type who is attracted to the ‘less is more’ approach to the decorative beauty regimen,” she told Mind Body Green. “Of course, my ideal would be to only have to splash my face with cool spring water in the morning and night to be a glowing example of radiant and effortless beauty, but I am not quite there … yet!”“This being said,” she continues, “I honestly try to avoid wearing makeup as much as possible. My philosophy is that the skin eats, and so I choose to put products on my skin that are, essentially, safe to ingest.”
Her go-to for bathtime may surprise you! “I love to wind down from the day with a hot sauna or bath. I was raised in a community that celebrates the culture of bathing and am happiest in a body of warm water. I am obsessed with this Mustard Bath from Dr. Singha and will add a few drops of lavender and eucalyptus oil along with a good shake of this to the tub. It’s heaven!” Apparently, a mustard bath is associated with soothing muscles and smoothing skin–who knew? (Just be sure you get the mustard powder designed for bathing, not the stuff from the condiment aisle.)
