I am no longer afraid of aging, and this is how I got there. First of all, we have been conditioned to have certain associations with aging by the media and consumer mentality. And these are way too negative. There is beauty in aging and we need to rediscover it. I say “re” because if we strip ourselves off the ideas, fears, and perceptions imposed upon us by the modern society, we can feel and see the beauty in all of the flow of life, all of its seasons.
There are ways to maintain beauty and youth, both through physical appearance and the light you emanate from within. I will share what has worked for me. I will also share the steps to finding and strengthening your inner shine, which rejuvenates you every minute that you find yourself in the conscious state. And it is not just the inner work. There are practices that charge your body with light and love, so that it begins to blossom.
Step 1. Aging is changing
Aging comes with wisdom. I would not choose to be a 20-year-old now and give up all of the understanding of life and the skills I have acquired. Remember that youth is not everything. With age we learn to appreciate things better, which gets us to enjoy them more. I remember worrying how I would be going out when I’m 40. By 30, I’ve realized I never want to go out again. I prefer a cozy relaxing evening at home. We will simply be interested in and value different things, but there will always be things we love to do.
For now, just love your wrinkles, love your fine lines, love your changing body, love your evolution. See aging as growth. Even though we should honor aging, and love ourselves in every state, let’s talk about how we can maintain and improve our physical appearance just because we can, not because we need to.
Step 2. What can you do?
This advice you read everywhere, but that’s because it is true. In short, water, sleep, healthy eating, sport, supplements, and superfoods will transform your skin, hair, and even face shape. Find supplements, ingredients, and foods that promote production of collagen in your body, such as hyaluronic acid, blueberries, vitamins. I love the effect organic natural supplements have had on my appearance. Check out beauty supplements or vitamins for women, skin, and hair. Even immunity boosting supplements have an undeniable effect on your looks.
Ditch alcohol and smoking, whatsoever. I see it as a choice of how much youthful appearance matters to you over the enjoyment of these processes. For me the former was a clear choice, but everyone is different. Genetics, of course, play a part, as some people are more affected by bad habits.
I have also been investing heavily into various electromagnetic beauty treatments, but, for me personally, none of them have had such an effect on my face as the combination of the steps in this article. One more thing that has also been so much more helpful than pricey procedures was face massage. Gua sha can literally help you dissolve your fine lines. Relaxation of face muscles and tissues is the main wrinkle eraser.
Step 3. Relaxation
Relaxation is always the answer. Relaxation is the key to beauty, youth, health, happiness, prosperity, everything! I can tell with certainty that the most affect on my appearance has been achieved through diving deeper into spirituality, learning how to calm my mind and love myself better, doing reiki, meditation, yoga, sound healing. Stress is the root of all the problems, including the condition of your skin and body. One of the most effective ways to control wrinkles for me is also setting a reminder on the phone to relax my forehead, eyebrows, and jaw. Most of us have this habit of tensing them. The more we relax our face the smoother our skin surface will remain.
Step 4. Energetic practices.
Not being backed by science as much, as science has always been separating itself from spirituality, energetic healing practices will not be something you will be reading about on main media platforms. However, their rejuvenation effect is undeniable. You, of course, need to find a practitioner you trust and to whom you feel a connection. We are designed to be drawn towards the people who can help us.
I have recently come across the genetic reprogramming practice offered by an old friend of mine, Mandana Dabiri, who has been traveling the world for over 10 years, learning unique and authentic healing techniques from various regions of the Earth. She advertised it on her Instagram with reverse aging among the other benefits. Mandana shows that she is no longer aging the way she is genetically predisposed to. The way to achieve that is removing the limiting patterns within our DNA that descend from family lineage. We are talking about weaknesses, illnesses, pain, but also aging patterns. I have just purchased her quantum healing, and am looking forward to experiencing it and sharing the results.
Another energetic healing practice I can recommend is Biofield Tuning. On their website they have lots of recordings on a variety of topics. I notice rejuvenation and change in my appearance even from listening to recordings that are not related to looks anyhow. This, just like Mandana’s treatment, is all about energetic cleanse and recharge, which of course comes together with rejuvenation.
Step 5. Young through playfulness
Do not allow life and yours and others’ expectations of your age to dictate how playful you remain. Keep doing crazy, spontaneous things that your heart calls for in the moment. We don’t ever have to be serious. The people that inspire me are those who remain playful and joyful no matter the age. Their hair may be grey and body changing but it’s about that spark in the eyes. This is exactly what makes people appear younger than they are. Find and amplify this spark by doing more of what makes you smile, laugh, and excited.
Step 6. Appreciate your seasons
For me personally, knowing that I do all these things for my body and spirit, allows me to relax and accept the natural change in my body. I know that I am taking best care of myself and, for the rest, am welcoming every part of my being and the way it is evolving.
Aging doesn’t have to be ugly, shameful, difficult, and scary. Let’s find beauty in every aspect of life. We are here for a short period of time. How lucky we are to be young. How lucky we are to have been young. How lucky we are to have things we appreciate get replaced with the new things we appreciate. How lucky we are for evolving and being gifted every next breath, every additional second, minute, year, and decade to live and love. I am no longer afraid of aging. I am loving my current self and welcoming my transition.
