Muted tones. Hints of smoke. An unapologetic red lip. Such are the magic elements of fall beauty, perhaps the most exciting and enticing season for beauty (and for foliage, of course, of course).
Admittedly, the temperature in my hometown probably won’t fall below 60 until, well, ever—but so help me, gods and goddesses, I’m going to engage in some fall beauty even if it means living in a little fantasy land in which I’m always on my way to a cozy fireside date (cider included!). Alas, you must excuse the ramblings of this wistful beauty editor.
But for real—this season I’m jonesing for deep purple tones with a modern twist—and, as always, luxe natural skin care that works. Here are my picks.
1. Journey Eau de Parfum by Harvey Prince
I discovered this absolutely seductive scent in a Petit Vour box. With notes of rose, amber, and musk, Journey is at once floral and woodsy/spicy. Young yet sophisticated. Journey’s complex bouquet makes it a perfect summer-to-fall transition fragrance. Even my fiancé approves, noting that I smell “nice.” (When I wear other natural fragrances, he mentions, “you smell like Christmas.” Meaning pine trees and relatives?!) I’ll take “nice.” Free of parabens, phthalates, and animal testing.
2. Balancing Rose + Red Tea Facial Toner by Acure Organics
Even if fall means escape from humidity and endless sun, many of us are still prone to problematic skin. This rose and red tea facial toner gently balances skin’s oil production while providing a soothing mist of age-fighting antioxidants. Skin should look great year-round! 3. Lip Boost in Lavish by Gressa Skin
Looking to indulge in a vampy-yet-classy lip? Gressa’s Lip Boost in Lavish is the perfect autumn auburn. Gressa’s light, non-sticky formula goes on like a balm but look like a gloss, so your lips won’t look too severe with this dark color. With castor, seabuckthorn seed, and coconut oil, Lip Boost is seriously nourishing. Say goodbye to chapped lips and hello to a sexy smile!
4. Enchanted Eye Shadow Palette by Lily Lolo
Ah, the quintessential smoky eye palette. Layer the deep, semi-matte hues in this palette with their pale, shimmery counterparts for a sultry, smoldering look. Alternatively, for a softer eye, stick to the pastel shades and use the darker tones as smudged eyeliner. Here’s how to apply eyeshadow to emphasize your peepers.
5. Sansa by Zoya
Who doesn’t like a dark nail as soon as the weather chills? Zoya’s Sansa is a deep, almost-black plum with a healthy dose of gold shimmer for a contemporary take on classic moody nails. Cupping your hot cocoa never looked so glam!
