Lately, I must admit I’ve been one of the worst at respecting a healthy sleep routine for myself due to stress. The seemingly never-ending amount of sleepless nights has certainly made me into a groggy and moody human being at times!
In times like these, nature comes to help! Always! Obviously, if you allow her to.
This creamy Sleep Elixir Smoothie helped me so much. A mix of one of my favorite fruits—mango, chamomile and ashwaghandha—right before bedtime was the perfect solution. It helped me roll into bed without feeling completely drained the next morning and, with brighter skin; which is a bonus. Right?
Ashwaghandha is truly a blessing. It is known to be a powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-stress, has antioxidant effects, improves quality of sleep and may help with insomnia.
Mangoes are rich in Vitamin B6 which synthesize serotonin to produce melatonin, which is a hormone that induces sleep. When mangoes are eaten at night, they help you sleep faster and upgrade your sleep quality.
Chamomile does not need any introduction in the sleeping department. It contains a chemical called Apigenin, which binds to different receptors in the brain like benzodiazepine and GABA, which are known to decrease anxiety and induce sleep.
Give this smoothie a try! I hope it helps you into a deep peaceful sleep as much as it helped me!
