It's that time of year where everyone has green on the brain--green for Saint Patrick's Day and green for spring.
Everyone has their go-to green shake, complete with sweet fruit masking the boldness of spinach or kale. Here's a different kind of green shake for you, using an herb instead to get its pretty pastel color.
Basil is one of my favorite herbs, and I love pairing it with fruit and avocado, both of which make an appearance in the recipe. Sweet mango and pineapple create a yummy base, avocado adds creaminess, vegan protein powder gives you a boost, and basil adds that extra bit of intrigue that keeps you coming back for another sip.
Enjoy this shake as a quick breakfast, snack, or an anytime treat! It's refreshing, nourishing, and delicious. I topped mine with hemp hearts for extra protein and fresh berries, but anything works here. I haven't tried it, but I suspect a spoonful of nut butter would be fantastic here as well.
