I recently admitted to a friend that I’m quite jealous of the incredible access celebrities have to all things beauty—the latest treatments, the coolest products, and the most skilled beauty professionals in the industry. These estheticians, hair stylists, and makeup artists often introduce celebs to the hottest brands and most effective ingredients—and when we’re lucky, those celebs gush about these goodies in interviews and on their social media feeds. (So I guess I shouldn’t be too jelly, after all!)
The gorgeous Rachel McAdams is no stranger to stunning looks on the red carpet and in her various film roles. Some of the actress’s hair stylists and makeup artists have introduced her to a few cult green beauty brands, including John Masters Organics and Dr. Hauscka. Now McAdams is a convert to these luxe, eco-conscious products. Below are some of the natural beauty products she’s relied on for some serious glam!
Hair
Red carpet stylist Mark Townshend used Rosemary and Peppermint Detangler to give McAdam’s updo a glossy, slightly wet look for the 2016 Oscars. “I sectioned her hair into a deep part, and coated my hands with John Masters Organics Rosemary and Peppermint Detangler.” This helped give the hair the texture necessary to stay in a bun. The lightweight conditioner is also appropriate for everyday use. Formulated with 17 organic ingredients, it combines soy protein and borage oil to help restore hair’s vital lipids.
On the set of Morning Glory, stylist Angel DeAngelis used John Masters Organics Evening Primrose Shampoo for Dry Hair and Lavender & Avocado Intensive Conditioner to prep the actress’ hair. The John Masters Organics Dry Hair Collection helps prevent breakage while avoiding stripping hair of nourishing oils.
“I find them very soothing, smoothing and nourishing. Working with hair and skin that is nourished and well maintained makes my job so much easier. It is wonderful to have a company that truly cares to make products with integrity, intelligence, and love,” DeAngelis said.
Skincare
Makeup artist Romy Soleimani turns to Dr. Hauschka Rhythmic Conditioner Sensitive Skin to care for McAdam’s skin. This oil-free conditioner is designed to be used 28 days in a row, mimicking skin’s natural renewal process, which takes 28 days.
Side note: Soleimani shares that McAdams and his other clients really prioritize skincare over wearing lots of makeup: “Julianne Moore, Keira Knightley, Michelle Williams, Rachel McAdams — they’re never asking me for a heavy contour; they’re all about their skin.” And I think it shows!
Speaking of skincare, McAdams is a huge fan of Dr. Hauscka Rose Day Cream. As she told InStyle, “In the winter I apply it few times a day. It smells good; it’s rich but not greasy. I love the way it plumps your cheeks up.” This gentle cream is appropriate for sensitve and weathered skin.
