Budget-Friendly Beauty Tips From 6 A-Listers
Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain is known for her beautiful porcelain skin. How does she keep her complexion so beautiful? Well, here’s a little beauty secret from her… She’s been known to mash up an avocado and put it on her face! Sound funny? Don’t be too surprised. The beta-carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E found in avocado oil help moisturize and protect your skin from damaging UV rays. These powerful antioxidants can also help increase collagen production. Jessica is a huge fan of argan oil, too. Argan oil’s high level of vitamin E and fatty acids make it perfect for your skin and hair.
Here’s a recipe for a DIY avocado facemask:
Oatmeal Avocado Face Mask: This acts as a great moisturizing mask and helps restore damaged skin. Take 1/2 ripe avocado and 1/2 cup of oatmeal. Cook the oatmeal per package instructions, and mix it well with the mashed avocado (without its skin and seed, of course) until it turns into a pulp-free paste of uniform consistency. Apply it on your skin and leave it on for 10-15 minutes or until it dries up. Once it’s done, rinse it off with lukewarm water and pat-dry your skin with a soft towel.
Natalie Portman
We are what we eat! Natalie Portman is all about beauty from the inside out. She credits her vegan diet and drinking a lot of water for her healthy complexion. What she puts in her body is very important to Natalie, and she boosts her diet by taking regular supplements such as Vitamin D and Calcium. She has also said that she takes vitamin B12 shots every month.
Regular, consistent exercise is also a part of her routine. Four days a week she works out for an hour. Her routine includes Pilates, elliptical, swimming, spinning–and she never forgets to stretch.
Emma Watson
Emma Watson is the master go-to for amazing natural vegan products. One of her keys to staying beautiful naturally may surprise you: “I have a bath every single day of my life. And if I can have two or three—amazing. Nothing terrible is going to happen in the bath, so I always find time for that. I’ll take phone conversations in the bath, anything. Sometimes I’ll use Epsom salts and oils, but my favorite is the C.O Bigelow Apothecary Cold and Flu Soak. Oh my God, it’s amazing! It has like eucalyptus and peppermint and bark and Echinacea and ginger… If you’re sick, it’s the ultimate. It clears out my sinuses and makes me feel really clean. Another brand I use a lot of is called Lola’s Apothecary. They do this incredible milk bath with rose petals that’s inspired by Cleopatra. Amazing. Then there’s a brand called French Girl Organics that has this great Sea Polish which exfoliates and leaves you moisturized afterwards. I like that because it eliminates a step after the bath.”
Gwyneth Paltrow
Timeless beauty Gwyneth Paltrow is also a huge fan of baths, too. She takes a bath every night with regular Epsom salts from the drug store (like Dr. Teal’s). Paltrow’s big focus is exercise and wellness. “I personally think fitness is a very important part of skincare and overall health and wellness and beauty. I think that the skin is our largest organ. We detoxify through it if we choose to. So a good sweat every day, you’re really pushing out a big toxic load out of your body, so for me, exercise is a big part of that. I also like to dry brush which is really detoxifying for the skin. Exercise is also really important for me for balance and to get those endorphins going.”
Paltrow also has a surprising beauty tip–the cold shower–“in Korean and Chinese medicine, if you have a very hot experience then shock yourself with cold water, it’s very very good for the nervous system, so I do that. I stay as much as I can under freezing cold water, then I do the normal shower and go back to my day.”
Ariana Grande
This exotic beauty has one simple beauty tip…
“You know what I actually use on my face as well as my body? I feel like people would think it would make you break out, but it doesn’t make you break out: coconut oil! Like, cooking oil. I put it everywhere—in my hair, on my body. It’s the answer…No idea if this is gonna work for anyone else, but I hope it does! If you try this and then you break out, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Disclaimer!”
Coconut oil is antifungal, antibacterial, and an amazing moisturizer that’s nourishing for both the hair and skin. Try it on a test patch of skin to make sure it agrees with your complexion before using it all over.
Beyoncé
Last but not least–beauty tips from Queen Bey herself. This natural beauty loving goddess adores a good body scrub. Her go to is Ocean Sea Salt Scrub by Carol’s Daughter. “There’s a scrub by Carol’s Daughter—Ocean Sea Salt Scrub—it feels like the beach, and it has the most beautiful scent. I’m always rushing, and this scrub is moisturizing, so it cuts out a step for me because I don’t have to completely cover myself with lotion.”
To keep her hair looking fabulous, Beyoncé babies her gorgeous locks. Her hairstylist reveals that Beyoncé is a fan of sulfate-free shampoos and uses a hot hair mask, specially made for her, with natural oils and vitamin E.
