Early on in my healthy eating journey, I found an “ice cream” shake at a local juice bar that I fell in love with instantly. But there were a few problems with the original shake that I found, so it took some tweaking to get it to the level of insane goodness that I have now.
The original shake had some added agave which I don’t think is necessary. The other issue that I had was that it costs about $9.
After much experimentation with this shake I’ve finally arrived at the perfect recipe to make at home. I enjoy one of these shakes at least 20 nights a month and I never gain weight anymore. Healthy, unprocessed, natural treats like these are satisfying and won’t weigh you down.
So, let’s get to it.
This almond milk shake has some essential ingredients and some optional ingredients. That best part of this is that you can have many different versions, all tasting different, but equally delicious and healthy. If you do some mixing and matching you can find what may be your favorite dessert ever.
Vegan Chocolate Almond Milk Shake
1 cup of ice
1 frozen banana (peel the banana and put in airtight container before putting in the freezer)
½ cup organic carrot juice
½ cup unsweetened almond milk
2 pitted dates
1 small handful of cashews
1 tsp cacao powder
Optional & Awesome Ingredients:
1 tsp maca powder
1 scoop vegetable protein powder
1 tsp of hemp seeds
1 tablespoon of all-natural peanut butter (no sugar added)
Some of these ingredients are a bit expensive, and they are absolutely not necessary. I have slowly added each of them and loved the extra bit of flavor they provide but the original shake will blow your mind all the same.
When I need a change I add the peanut butter and it is simply amazing.
If you ever find that the unsweetened almond milk is unappetizing, try refrigerated brands. Of course, there’s always the option to make your own almond milk.

Blend all ingredients and enjoy!
